Haupt recognized for Clinical Leadership for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants

Elise Haupt, PA-C, MPH, recipient of the Clinical Leadership for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants award, has been a physician assistant in hospital medicine for 10 years, and leader of the hospitalist NP/PAs for HealthPartners for more than five years.
She believes the backbone of hospital medicine is the intersection of connection and collaboration, which ultimately leads to innovation. With this philosophy, Elise has fostered the growth of the hospitalist NP/PA team across the HealthPartners system, doubling the size of the team. She has faced the challenge of uniting disparate cultures and ultimately forging an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust throughout the hospital medicine department. Ms. Haupt co-led the development of the “HP Direct” HealthPartners transfer center. Her team successfully locates beds for thousands of patients per year within the 10-hospital system across Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Ms. Haupt enjoys building relationships with hospitalists across the state of Minnesota and beyond, innovating within the state as the first PA and non-physician to be elected as president of the Minnesota Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) chapter. Throughout the year, she connects and innovates with NPs and PAs as a leader on the SHM NP/PA Special Interest Group. She exemplifies the collaboration between hospitalist NP/PAs and physician colleagues as the liaison to the SHM for the American Academy of PAs.
When not advocating for patients and hospitalists, Ms. Haupt can be found cheering for her nephew, Alex, and his swim team. Go Trojans!
