Kauffman honored with Leadership for Practice Managers award

Regina Kauffman, this year’s award winner for Leadership for Practices Managers, is a program coordinator and senior research assistant at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland University in 1994 and joined Johns Hopkins shortly thereafter as a neuropsychometrician. She became a hospitalist in 2006.
She has played a crucial role in the implementation of several patient care and system-centered initiatives resulting from research projects. She has published 31 research papers in journals like the Southern Medical Journal, the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and the Journal of Hospital Medicine.
Ms. Kauffman is the program coordinator for the Student Hospitalist Academic Research Program (SHARP) and Focused Accelerated IMG Training in Healthcare (FAITH). She has played a key role in the establishment and continued success of these programs for undergraduates, medical students, and international medical graduates. She is responsible for the oversight and onboarding of these learners. She engages them in research and clinical roles, encourages their accomplishments, and facilitates program advancements.
In addition to her professional roles, Ms. Kauffman is a lifetime member of the Glen Burnie Volunteer Fire Department. In the past, she has served as EMS lieutenant and EMT-B preceptor. She is also an active volunteer with Soldiers’ Angels.
