Welcome to Day 2 of SHM Converge!

It’s time to start Day 2 of SHM Converge 2024! Since touching down in San Diego, I’ve enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces and meeting some of SHM’s newest members. It reminds me of the collective power of our hospital medicine community, and I’m inspired to see so many of us learning and growing together.
Today, during breakfast, we’ll have a special section carved out in the foyer of Ballroom 20D where you can meet the editorial team of the Journal of Hospital Medicine. Learn about how JHM is advancing care and building community through research and how you can get involved. After breakfast, get your day started with one of our many high-impact sessions, followed by a break with our partners at 9 a.m. in the Engagement Arena (Hall GH). SHM staff is available at the SHM Pavilion #624 to answer questions about SHM and your membership, give you an opportunity to join our interactive photo wall and maybe help you win some special prizes!
At 11 a.m., we invite you to join us for the Best of Research and Innovations in 2023 on the Main Stage (Hall E). Oral presentations on the Top Advances in Research and Innovations are today in the Academic/Research Track in Room 26AB. ePoster presentations will be running today from 8 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. in Converge Central (Hall F). While you’re in Converge Central, you can also connect with your colleagues in the Social Circle, Chapter Corner, Fellows Lounge and more. Don’t miss the photo ops!
Another SHM Converge tradition, the Awards of Excellence, will take place after lunch. At 1:20 p.m. on the Main Stage (Hall E), we will collectively honor SHM Chapters, members who have made exceptional contributions to SHM and the field of hospital medicine, and our Hospital Medicine Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship Fund recipients. The popular Update in Hospital Medicine session follows the Awards of Excellence, also on the Main Stage. We’re excited to see what Drs. Suchita Sata and Zahir Kanjee have in store for us!
Are you trying to decide between a few courses that are running simultaneously? Don’t worry! SHM Converge On Demand is available on-site at a reduced price. View sessions you couldn’t attend and even a few bonus sessions not being held on site. The rate will increase to $499 for members and $649 for non-members after the conference, so stop by the Registration Desk or Tech Squad to add On Demand to your registration.
One of my favorite things to do while I’m at Converge, when I’m not seeing people face to face, is sharing my conference experience on social media, and I invite you to join me.
