Attendees share their big takeaways from SHM Converge 2025.
“I definitely learned a lot more about networking opportunities and job opportunities, so that’s definitely opened my eyes to how many things there are both nationwide and in other countries. So that’s something that I’m taking back with me because we don’t get those networking opportunities as often.
— Zohaib Ahmad, MD, Patchogue, New York
“I was in this interesting talk about heart failure management with acute diuresis, so I’ve learned a couple of things. I’m definitely going to use it like a guideline for directed medical therapy. As a hospitalist, we usually don’t think about it and let the cardiologist decide it, but the data shows that if you start them as early as you can, the outcome is better, and mortality will decrease.”
— Vatsal Patel, MD, Suwanee, Georgia
“My favorite thing has been perusing the posters. There is so much good work happening in different institutions that I have been going around asking people what has inspired their work. People are also very willing to share their work. We’ve exchanged emails, and they’re going to be sending some of their methods over. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel from scratch. The wheel’s already been created.”
— Vasundhara Singh, MD, New York, New York
“There have been a lot of interesting cases presented and a couple of them highlighted the fact that good history-taking is important in patient outcomes. Some of the representations of diseases that we saw in some of the cases went back to the history-taking process. Not just what the patient presented on the day of admission, but things that could have been happening three to five years prior. So that’s something I would take with me, just digging in and listening to people. It helps us as hospitalists to better care for our patients.”
— Abiola Adebayo, MD, Bronx, New York
“There are a lot of new things I’ve learned, and there has also been some very good research. I was judging some of that, so I had a lot of fun, and it was incredible. I also enjoyed the abstracts. I liked that they were on the screens rather than on a physical poster. That makes it a lot quicker and a lot easier to view. It was very well organized.”
